Apps
Speaking/Presenting – These apps will help you gain awareness of your rate of speech, use of filler words (e.g. uh, um, so, etc.). If you don’t even know your rate of speech, how could you know if you’re speaking too fast or too slow for most people? These apps will calculate your rate of speech and lots of other useful information just from you talking into your phone and then it will give you constructive feedback. It’s not as good as a communication coach, but for AI it’s pretty good.
Controlling Your State – Human Needs Psychology teaches us that controlling our state, or our emotions, is a key to being more effective and happy. Breathing is one of the primary drivers of our state and we have more control over it than most people realize. These are two exercises that have been scientifically demonstrated to help calm and balance a person. I use the 4-7-8 exercise all the time.
